Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Dry Twice is the sequel to the one released in 2018 and part of the long-running point-and-click adventure series that started in 1987. The more adult-humored and themed series follows the story of Larry Laffer and his pursuits as he keeps finding himself in a larger plot. The series itself is a great point-and-click adventure but what makes or breaks the series to many is the sexual and adult twist them. The series is only for those over the age of eighteen and 100% not for anyone younger.

Point and click adventures is an older style of game that has slowly been released and returning. The type of game revolves around exploring though areas and finding items to solve puzzles to continue the main story. These types of games can be difficult through problem-solving, information gathering, and unorthodox methods of completing problems. Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Dry Twice follows this method and continue to do what the series has done. The heavy sexual themes, puns, and adult humor create not only a silly world but interesting ways to complete problems. At the start of the story, they fill you in on the last game to the point you gain the narration of the main story of the last game. You can choose to skip it all if you know already, as you are given a bit of a tutorial stage before the main story begins. The story itself revolves around finding out that Larry’s love interest Faith could still be alive. He leaves the island he is currently living on to hunt for her. The sexual tones and references can be overwhelming as they happen more than not happen. The heavy focus of them can be off-putting, but they normally are all in some sort of comedic manner. This can be from items, locations, people, how they act, and even your A.I. Phone assistant Pi as she helps you through your journey. The story itself gets crazier as the player progresses and the situations that happen. The cartoon style fits perfectly with the game, and the music matches the themes. The writing is well thought out for the story, even if it is very sexualized. The game also makes fun of itself, and its themes as Larry tries to fit in this decade while being trapped in his mindset from the 80s.

The game does a nice job of keeping track of what you need to do as your assistant, Pi tracks all progress so far and the steps you have done before that. Leisure Suit Larry does more to aid players by showing what you can interact with on-screen at a touch of a button. It does help a lot but by no means makes the game easier. The span of the game just becomes larger as you revisit many of the places back and forth through an archipelago. The larger puzzles that need to be solved require the use of the D.I.Y. app on your phone. Like in most games like this, you can combine items (if it’s the right answer) to solve a puzzle. The D.I.Y. app does the same but trying to find exact items to work for these larger projects. The very first one in the tutorial shows players that are new to this sort of how-to-think out-of-the-box mindset you have to think to solve them. You have to make a raft, and all the parts are not traditional parts for a raft. From lots of plastic bottles and underwear for the sails, you make due most of the time. The game doesn’t allow you to mix or use them if it isn’t the solution. Most items only serve one purpose or one puzzle and will be consumed by it. The unrealistic silliness makes it both enjoyable, challenging, and a rewarding sense of completion. The game only gets more challenging when you get to the point of traveling between multiple islands. I can’t say I ran into anything new or exciting that changes how point-and-click adventures are done, but they did do what works correctly.

Overall Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Dry Twice is a must-try if you are into point-and-click adventures. The difficulty and humor mix in really well. The only thing that should prevent you from getting this is the heavy sexual themes and jokes. This game is 100% not safe for work. Those that love point-and-click adventures would thoroughly enjoy the challenges this game provides, while this can prove difficult as one for first-timers. Fans of the series will for sure want to grab this one as it’s a direct sequel from the last. Going into the game, I expected an easier game that is mostly humor and I was happy to find a game that made me think and was silly, even if the sexual themes were over the top and everywhere all the time.

Pros:

  • Great point and click adventure
  • Humorous
  • Good challenge

Cons:

  • Sexual themes are non-stop
