Release Date: Oct 3, 2017

In search of Aramus, a person of great importance gone missing, you are cast down – quite literally – into an unknown part of the world. With no more airship and missing friends, you are left to wonder; who were those that tried to kill you and keep you from this mysterious Crescent Isle? With the threat of mana, artifacts that twists the mind, and cunning adversaries, one would consider themselves lucky to not have to face these challenges alone. Play as the young Gully, daughter of Aramus, who has been gifted his renowned magical gauntlets, Calibretto, a sentient war golem whose firepower is as deadly as his healing abilities are lifesaving, Garrison, a warrior who turned mercenary before seeing it as duty to guard Gully’s life, Knolan, a very talented mage and arcane-user, and then Red Monica, a cunning rogue with luscious curves, a thick long red mane, and that seems to stop at nothing to get what she wants. With these five heroes in search of a Great Hero, surely nothing will be able to withstand them and their diverse artillery!

To be quite honest, with all I saw of the game, I had big, and I do say BIG, expectations for this game, and was quite pleased when they were smashed. I never could have thought that this game would have such beautiful graphics and designs, even on the simpler looks of the map – everything looked absolutely flawless. Paring such a beautiful game with matching epic and, when suiting, melancholic and/or startling turns made it even more enjoyable. Now, if we take a peek inside, I can guarantee you that, even if I have yet to finish the game completely, the story it gives you and the little bonus scenes are absolutely enchanting! I shall not reveal much about it so you can have as much fun with it as I do, don’t worry. But trust me when I say this; you will not want to set the game down even if it’s 2am in the morning and you have to wake up at 8 for school, or work, or whatever task you may have for the day!

We talked about the looks, sounds, the story, now let’s dive into the mechanics that are straight out of those old lovable RPG games we played when we were a little younger. Remember these confrontations where there were enemy and ally turns, and you had to plan your character’s move strategically to kill off the opponents? That what the game gives you straight off the bat when you enter combat. You organize your party in the Inn then dive off into adventure and quests that will, hopefully as much for you as it did me, have your attention for hours on end because it’s just that good and refreshing from the hack-and-slash most games seems to adopt. Also let us pay special attention to the map in this game, or more like the two kinds of map there is. The first one is your way to travel through this obscure and ominous island, whose population is as suspicious if not more, through paths and random dungeon scattered around the place. The second one is a Diablo-like map for those who get lost sometimes, like me, and can’t quite figure where they’ve gone or where the exit is at. Very useful.

I’ve pretty much went through all I could think about praising the game on, so now let us dive into the less fun parts. First was the fact that, sometimes, while engaging a fight, the game would freeze momentarily which made me worried about it crashing in the long run; maybe something for the developers to look into. I’ve also noticed that the game had some kind of interaction with my chromatic keyboard, when there’s nothing much happening it turns an awful and worrisome mix of coloration and blackouts. Maybe something to look into, again? Last but by no means least of the things I can think of as a downside would be that during all of the cinematics I’ve had the displeasure of having the voice acting (which is amazing by the way) overpowered by the music, which is odd since I have the music’s volume lowered way down compared to the voices and effects. That’s it! Not much of a sting, huh? Maybe you should look into buying the game after all!

In the end, even though the game did not look like something that would please me, I was agreeably surprised and now cannot wait to play more of it and unveil more of the story. For $29.99 USD on Steam, I assure you that the game is very well worth the money, and that you will find yourself on the edge of your seat with every passing moments!
