Consensual Torture Simulator is pretty much just what it says. It simulates a situation in which you are the slightly (or not so slightly) sadistic boyfriend to a very masochistic girlfriend. Much like a visual novel, you make choices to progress the story. However, unlike a visual novel, the entire game is text-based; imagery is left to the imagination. Personally, I find that to be a very tasteful choice. Developed and published by Merritt Kopas, you can buy Consensual Torture Simulator for $3 USD on Itch.io.

The purpose of the game is hit, flog, and, well, torture your girlfriend until she cries. Will you go all the way and make her cry or stop midway? To some, this may be a bad game due to how short it is or due to the content it pertains. On the other hand, it’s a game that relies on the the player imagining what’s missing. Visuals, audio, and all the sensations that come with them are to be left up to each individual reader. While it certainly is not a high-impact gameplay type of game, it does keep track of whether your actions have made your girlfriend cry or whether you are getting tired and can either give her or both of you a rest. Though, if you’re uncomfortable with continuously beating your girlfriend, you can choose to stop at any time.

Do I recommend the game? Not really. While Consensual Torture Simulator was a fun, little read, it was just a fun, little read. Once you stop, there is nothing more. There is only the sensation of “oh, it’s over.” Personally, I would’ve loved if there was more content to it to make it more than a ten minute playthrough. For three bucks, it feels like it’s priced right, but also overpriced. I suppose it’s really worth it if your real girlfriend isn’t a masochist and you wanna beat up your virtual one. Or if you don’t have one at all and only have your dreams, but aren’t very creative yourself and need something to kick-start your imagination. If there’s ever an expansion for the game to go further, I’ll be sure to take a look at it. For now, this game has been touched. Until next time.
