In Van Helsing III, the player incarnates the oh-so-well-known monster hunter Van Helsing. Based upon Bram Stoker’s depiction and accompanied with everything from heavy artillery to the occult arts, Van Helsing is reborn with the stylistic twist of Stephen Spielberg. Enter Borgovia, a land that the follower of some illuminated prophet ruined, wielding the pretext of a prophesied “End of the World,” a reality which becomes immediately evident within minutes of actual game play.
Pros:
There are several choices offered when considering class selection, which, although expected of this genre, is not always delivered. The item diversity was quite ample and definitely a highlight in this game. Van Helsing III has a similar atmosphere to Diablo, but develops more diversity as the player progresses through levels and areas.
There are a plethora of quests and goals to engage in, ranging from the training and command of soldiers, to hunting with a Chimera. The main and side quests are not unnecessarily difficult, and are quite lucrative within the game’s economy. The resurrection system is efficient and accessible, and the game’s graphics are up to par for its price.
Cons:
The boss and monster battles are quite difficult. While playing this game, expect death to be a constant companion along the journey to progress. Resurrecting costs money, and the more often the player dies, the more expensive their deaths become.
The game is a bargain at $14.99 on Steam. Well worth its value, it’s a striking game to experience! With an engaging story, diverse quests, items, and lore, this game easily makes it among the best in terms of price and gameplay.
