Home Sweet Home is a first-person horror, adventure game based on Thai myths and beliefs from YGGDRAZIL GROUP CO.,LTD. I, first and foremost, don’t really do horror games very well because of content. However, Home Sweet Home delivers such a unique setting and story that I am actually wanting to finish it even though parts of the game made me hold my breath and forget to breathe at times. While streaming it for review, I ran into no bugs whatsoever-well, no game bugs, that is. The core of the story revolves around a husband whose wife is missing as he bounces between a nightmarish world and their home.

It does a really great job incorporating the Thai myths and beliefs into the game through the environment, spirits that chase you, and lore objects you find laying around. The music for the game really does set the mood along with the detail for each of the areas. The times you are in the house are a welcome reprieve from being hunted by things such as a crazy undead chick that wants to stab you in the neck. The only issue I had with the game is that, at some points, it was not exactly clear as to what or where you needed to go. Other than that, I, wholeheartedly, recommend this game to anyone, even to those like me who don’t handle horror games very well.

Pros:

  • Unique Setting
  • Great Music and Area Design
  • Plenty of what-the-goddamn-fuck-was-that moments

Cons:

  • Sometimes, it’s not clear what you need to do
